FISA is the international federation (IF) for this competition. To promote friendship and interaction among youths from the different country, FISA organised the first relay competition for the youths. All the rowers are split into different teams with their abilities even out in all teams. A team captain is appointed among the youths, he or she will then round up the team to discuss strategies with the team. Most shots are done with 200F2 and 16-35 with 1D4. The weather is not so good as it was about to rain. Seeing all the athletes giving their best is really heartwarming. At the same time, 2 students from Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary) were selected to be part of the torch relay. The students were extremely excited as this is their only chance in their life to be able to run with the torch as a youth! This experience will indeed go down in history for them. 2 more days to YOG, and I am also busy preparing the venue for Rowing, Kayaking and canoeing. As well as the 3rd Formula 1 night race. These 2 events have help to create huge awareness about Singapore. This year I have the chance to shoot some fireworks from the Marina Reservoir(One of the YOG venue). This place is out of bounce to public and hence, I get to shoot in comfort without the crowd.

This is my first attempt to shoot gymnastics. I went there only with one lens, that is the 200F2. It is a great challenge as 200mm is a bit tight to capture routines performed by the gymnast. I only begin to get the hang of shooting this sport after about 1hr moving around the arena. The students went to a child care centre 1.5hr drive away from Phnom Penh. This centre is managed by a volunteer from Full Gospel Assembly (FGA) know as Mr. Sonny Foo. During their service-learning phase, they also visited some poor villager’s home to give them rice, oil and some preserved food. This opening is held in conjunction with the Singapore Mountain Bike Carnival 2010. This carnival also serves as the Youth Olympic Games venue validation test. I was fortunate enough to get a pool photographer position to shoot at this competition. Eventually, I will be serving as venue photo supervisor for the rowing and kayaking at the YOG. It was my first attempt to shoot a spot that I was relatively new to, although I tried to join rugby in my secondary school days. It was fun shooting the game until the rain came towards the end of the match between  RI and ACS.  The first match was RI vs ACS, it is like an opening match before the league finals begin. The league finals is between Bucks and Wanderers. Wanderers won the game eventually. This year there are many participants from overseas as well and featuring 17 floats.

During this air show, they also exhibited many interesting weapons modified by our very own Singapore Technology Engineering. ST Engineering has modified weapons from small arms to armored vehicles .
